What is a palmtop?

Palmtop is a tiny version of the normal computer that we use everyday. It is a small computer that literally fits in your palm. Therefore it is called palmtop. Since the size of the palmtop is very small, the scope is also very limited in this case. Those people who require moving away from place to place may use this palmtop since there is lesser amount of hassle in carrying this. Palmtops are best used instead of phone books and calendars. It has often been seen that some palmtops use pen instead of keyboard for data enter. Hand-held computers or PDA’s are those palmtops which use pen for entering the data instead of keyboard.

Since palmtops are extremely small in size, disk drives are not included with this set. However, many palmtops contain PCMCIA slots. The PCMCIA slots can be used to insert disk drives, modems, memory, and other devices.

Some Palmtops are also known as PDA’s. The hand-held computers and pocket computers are very handy and can easily.

There is however one disadvantage of this computer. Although its battery has long life the functions are highly reduced due to its small size. The price of this computer is also exorbitant.
